Tok Daal (Bengali style daal with raw mangoes)

Aam er daal or Tok Daal is a Bengali style daal made during the Summer months. It is said that it helps in keeping the body cool. Tempered with dried red chilli, paanchphoron and mustard oil, this daal goes perfect with a bowl of steamed rice.
Ingredients
1 cup Matar/Masoor/Moong daal
1 raw mango, peeled
1 teaspoon Paanchphoron masala (Bengali 5 spice)
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
Bay leaves
3-4 Dry red chilli
1 tablespoon mustard oil
Salt, to taste
Water
Directions
Pre-soak daal in water. Peel and slice the raw mango. Put daal, mango, turmeric, salt in a pressure cooker till daal is cooked well. Heat mustard oil, add paanchphoron, bay leaves and red chilli and cook till the crackle. Next, add the cooked daal, water and salt if needed. Slow simmer till thick. Your Tok daal is now ready to be served !
